Independence House Pecos is a 75-bed facility housing males from the diversion and transitional levels. Independence House Pecos houses General Population inmates as well as some special populations. These special populations/programs are: Vocational Heavy Construction Technology Program, inmates who learn construction trades while incarcerated at Buena Vista Correctional Center and Sterling Correctional Facility and are transitioned through our half-way house with the expectation that they use their training to seek employment in the construction field. Sex Offender inmates from San Carlos Correctional Center are monitored by GPS and are required to undergo extensive treatment as well as intensive supervision. We also are part of a national study called MICA (Mentally Ill Chemical Abusers), inmates with co-occurring mental health and drug/alcohol abuse histories are placed at two of our facilities (Pecos and Fillmore) to monitor their progress. The facility takes pride in our responsiveness to the contractors, and in meeting their individual needs of such a diverse population.
